Manchester’s newest underground hotspot, Amber’s, is making waves with a bold move: a strict no-phone policy. Upon entry, clubgoers have their phone cameras covered with tamper-proof stickers—a simple but effective tactic to encourage presence, connection, and true immersion on the dancefloor.
Jeremy Abbott, one of Amber’s directors and resident DJs, says the goal is to restore the raw, communal energy of clubbing, away from screens and social media. “We want to create a space where people come for the music, not the content,” he told The Guardian.
The policy has been met with positive reception, and Amber’s joins a growing movement of venues across London and Berlin bringing back old-school rave ethics in a digital age.
